Prepare a song
Each singer should prepare and memorize a song. Songs should be folk or classical music (no pop or broadway). We encourage you to discuss your song selection with your music teacher. Please bring printed music to the audition for the pianist.
If you do not have a vocal or choir teacher, you can choose to prepare one of the songs provided, Somewhere Over the Rainbow or Amazing Grace. Returning members should not select these songs.

Prepare a poem
In addition to a song, you will need to prepare and memorize a poem. Select one where you can be expressive and animated as you recite. Although we are not requiring specific poems, past auditions have included poems from Shel Silverstein or others that they have read in school.
Music Theory placement evaluation
After you sing, you will be asked to complete as much as you can of a music theory placement evaluation. If you are not familiar with music theory, you will be placed in level 1. Returning members should review their theory books and be prepared to show knowledge from the previous season.
